280 mines for auction in FY?18

Government has chalked out a plan to put as many as 280 mines with a mineral wealth of over Rs 10 lakh crore to auction in the next fiscal. According to Mines Secretary Balvinder Kumar, soon the drone technology will be used for preparing topography maps and inspection of mines.

The 13th International Mining and Machinery Exhibition 2016 (IMME 2016) held during November 16-19 concluded with a positive note on a possible turnaround of Indian mining industry in the coming years. The 13th Global Mining Summit (GMS) 2016 also held concurrently with the IMME 2016.

Govt to re-auction 37 mineral blocks by December

The governemnt is planning to re-acution 37 mineral blocks in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand by December this year. This is because the government received lukewarm response in the recently-held auction of non-coal mines.
